“Good ops teams should be figuring out how to make it easier for salespeople to sell and enablement is about providing the training, guidance, and coaching to make sales teams really effective. Their strong adoption, user engagement, and customer retention reflect the value they’re providing to businesses,” added Sacks. “Scratchpad’s product has fueled their rise as one of the fastest-growing bottom-up sales tech startups. Scratchpad is the only solution that truly consolidates tools sales teams use within a single, unified revenue team workspace instantly connected to Salesforce, including: spreadsheets, task managers, chat, deal collaboration, sales notes, and pipeline management. Worse yet, the data quality in most CRMs remains poor and sales process adherence is mostly a dream. Revenue teams are literally paying their reps to complete administrative work instead of revenue-generating work. Yet, most reps still use general-purpose spreadsheets, docs, note apps, and task managers to do their jobs only to then suffer from hours of manual data entry to update their CRM for their managers. Sales reps are overloaded with technology and tools like CRM software, call recording, email sequencing, note taking, and much more. We’re excited to deepen our partnership as we continue to build the first revenue team workspace and cement our leadership in this rapidly growing category,” says Pouyan Salehi, CEO and co-founder of Scratchpad. We’ve developed real trust and alignment such that the process for this round transpired essentially over three text messages. “We didn’t need to think twice: Craft has been an incredible partner since leading our Series A round a year ago and we welcomed the opportunity to go bigger together. “When you’re on the board and see a company keeps beating its forecasts, you have to be a little dense not to ask if you can invest more,” said David Sacks, co-founder and general partner at Craft Ventures. ![]() ![]() ![]() These organizations have adopted Scratchpad for managing their sales pipeline, taking and sharing notes, working their to-dos, forecasting with their managers, making handoffs between teams easier, and collaborating with their revenue teams more effectively. Scratchpad’s Revenue Team Workspace has quickly been established as the gold-standard for software that makes salespeople happy and helps revenue teams produce more. ![]() ![]() Timber framing, however, remains a viable option, even though it requires more skill. Stick framing became firmly established as the predominant method of light construction after the Great Chicago Fire in 1871, when a large part of the city needed to be rebuilt quickly. Since the framing was nailed together, one didn’t need the skills of a joiner. Now anyone could build a house - and faster, with a smaller crew. This system relied on the repetitive use of many small pieces of lumber (2x4s, for example) to overcome the scarcity of skilled labor. The newly built railroad made it possible to ship smaller-dimensioned lumber to the treeless prairie, and the new technologies of sawmills, drying kilns, and mass-produced nails helped promote a new construction system called stick framing. In North America in the 1830s, settlers migrating west needed a way to build quickly with unskilled labor. Illustration © Michael Gellatly, excerpted from Learn to Timber Frame. It has been used in countless buildings over thousands of years the world over. The Through Mortise and Tenon: This simple tying joint, in its most basic form, handles moderate loads. In much of Europe, where centuries-old wooden buildings are still lovingly preserved and valued, carpenters are trained as timber framers and are highly skilled in the techniques. The homebuilders in the colonies were often shipwrights, using basic hand tools and minimal material processing (but great skill) to provide shelter. The same techniques were used to build Asian temples and great wooden ships. It is the traditional method of framing brought over by the colonists to the New World and can be found worldwide in areas that had abundant timber before the age of sawmills, drying kilns, and mass-produced nails. Rather than using small framing members (2x4s, 2x8s, etc.) that are closely spaced and simply butt-joined and nailed together, timber framing uses larger pieces spaced farther apart and mortise-and-tenon joinery held together with wooden pins, or pegs. It’s a type of post-and-beam construction - picture the barn raising in the movie Witness. Timber framing in much of the world can refer to any framing system using wood components, but in North America we use it to mean solid timber (greater than 5 x 5 in section) joined together with traditional wooden joinery. ![]() Now we're getting very close to my embryo of idea!īut I'm not very interested of the electric connectivity LEGO offers. (for me it helped to first put in the nuts and then carefully put in the bolt) Īgain it is kind of hard to get the little tiny nuts on the bolts, but it is doable. There is a little bit more room in this brick than there is in the 1x2 brick, but we still need to grind two sides of the nuts down. Just stick them through the holes and make sure that the negative lead is going kind of around it in a way that it will be trapped between the nut and the LEGO when we tighten the nut. It is great for glueing LED on LEGO, but it will also glue finger on LEGO or finger on LED or finger on finger or finger on face or finger on tool or. The tightness of the hole and the negative lead being bolted down was enough to keep the LED firmly in place. You might want to secure the LED in place with a drop of superglue. Be sure that the positive and negative leads aren't touching. You will need to bend the positive lead out of the brick. You need to bend the resistor underneath the LED and the other lead of the resistor in a way that it passes both 2.5 mm holes when you put the LED in the 5 mm hole. It is a kind of struggle to get the LED in the brick. (You might need the razor blade to clean it up) Put the brick right side up and drill away the stud with the 2.5 mm hole in it. Put the brick upside down and drill away the stud that is inside the brick, with a 4.5 mm drill. If you do this from the inside out, your drill will centre itself on the dent that is already in the inside of the brick.ĭrill a 2.5 mm hole in the middle of the side of the brick on the side where you didn't drill the hole in the stud. ![]() With the drill press you drill a 2.5 mm hole in the middle of one of the studs. Now I have like 50 for that price, but they need some slight modifying to fit in the brick. I found the right ones, but they where about $2,00 each. I found M2.5 bolds that have a head that is exactly the right size. ![]() ![]() In aluminum the result was much better, but still not what I wanted and how would I connect a wire to a piece of aluminum?!įinally I found a much easier and faster solution. It costed me a routing-bit and the result was terrible. Being new at machining, I had no idea that copper was so hard to machine. My first idea was to machine the studs out of copper. Now the bottom plate is finnish, we start on the top 2x1 black brick. It must be cheap (not counting the CNC I build for it) (so there must be a possibility for three poles: 5V, GND and signal) The design must be useful for different modules in the future, like sensors and switches. There must be a easy (LEGO-like) system to connect cables There must be come logic in the positive and negative poles It must fit in a 2x2 brick and be flush within the brick It must be 5V so is can be easily controlled by an Arduino micro controller (Tristram also did a LEGO-LED but with his own approach) My goals for the LEGO-LED: First I took the same route Tristran took and even build myself a MYDIYCNC to cut the bricks, but finally I decided to take an other approach.Ī nice first step in this project will be a simple LED in a brick. We tried to work together on this project, but it seemed impossible to synchronize our agenda's and get together so we both run our own projects. I had this idea for a long time, but to many other projects stood in the way until Tristram posted this instructable: DIY-LEGO I know LEGO has the Mindstorms-set that probably is great, but wouldn't it be even better (and cheaper) to hack your regular bricks into your own micro controller controlled LEGO? Well I think so! ![]() It remains one of the roomier vehicles of its size and class though, and offers good passenger space and cargo volume, although clever secondary storage areas for small items are conspicuously absent from the cabin. It’s less boxy looking than the Passport, but otherwise largely unremarkable to look at, inside or out. The ST offers much more speed and better handling too, and it can easily keep up with the Blazer though it might not be quite as precise a handler as that SUV’s RS trim.įord has done its best to keep the Edge looking contemporary with subtle styling tweaks, but this generation has never been that much of a visual standout and newer competitors have eclipsed it. The four-cylinder’s 23 mpg combined fuel economy is underwhelming, but still better than the Passport and even with the Murano. This is a pleasant and confident experience if not too exciting. FordĪpart from the ST, the Edge isn’t much about performance, but it isn’t slow or sloppy to drive. ![]() It’s not bad overall, but it isn’t cheap and it feels dated compared to newer rivals. Now in its final year, the second-generation Ford Edge hasn’t really changed much since its 2016 introduction. The Blazer is the dynamic hero of this group and the Sorento the nicest overall, but the Edge comes out ahead of others like the Nissan Murano. Three-rowers like the Explorer and Honda Pilot are up to a foot longer overall. The Edge gets cross-shopped against slightly larger three-row crossovers and SUVs, but its 189-inch length falls just 2.3 inches short of the Blazer and Passport. The closest analogs are similar, two-row SUVs, including the Chevrolet Blazer, Honda Passport, Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento. While a classic in-betweener, the Edge competes with more than a dozen different crossovers. There are many more compacts and three-rows, but not so many small midsize two-row offerings. Predictably, the ST’s performance is reflected at the pump, earning 21 mpg combined to the regular Edge’s 23. This is unremarkable, but not bad by class standards. Most are powered by a 250 horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, but the ST (“Sports Tuned”) gets a twin-turbo, 335-horsepower 2.7-liter V6 and a seven-speed automatic. There are five trims: SE, SEL, ST-Line, Titanium and the sporty ST. The 2023 model builds on 2019’s refresh with minor tweaks. This SUV falls into the gap between brand’s compact models like the Escape and proper midsize three-rows like the Explorer, and even against some newer competitors, it’s still pretty capable, with standard all-wheel drive (AWD), plenty of room and decent gas mileage. But while the U.S.-market Edge might be in its final days and looking past its peak, it’s still got plenty to offer for some buyers. The city will prioritize rental funding for projects at that level. In order for the rentals to be considered affordable, they must be restricted to households making no more than 60 percent of the area median income, which is $40,020 for a family of three. The city’s new definition of affordability impacts housing targets in the plan. That’s because federal guidelines take into account the metro area and suburbs outside the city, where incomes may be higher than within city limits. To revise its definition of affordability, the city shifted toward lower incomes than federal guidelines: down to 60 percent of the area median income for rentals, instead of 80 percent of the area median income. With its new budget and the SHIP, the city changed what counts as affordable. On : San Antonio’s affordable housing budget balloons beyond bond funding. Other funding sources include a one-time federal grant of $18 million, tax increment reinvestment zones, tax exemptions and SAHA federal capital funds. San Antonio’s regular affordable housing budget would make up another $277 million. The city also expects another $150 million housing bond in 2027. To make that happen, the spending plan includes a proposed $150 million housing bond, for which a citizen committee recently wrapped up recommendations. On the homeownership end, the goal is to preserve more than 5,700 homes for people with very low incomes. The city also plans to preserve more than 4,500 rental units to ensure housing stock isn’t converted into something too expensive for tenants. Another 3,700 rental units would be produced for those who make between $22,000 and $44,000 annually, depending on household size. The bulk of that is the construction of nearly 6,900 rental homes for people making 30 percent or less of the area median income. The new goal of 28,000 includes almost 13,000 owner-occupied homes and more than 15,000 rental units. It also aimed to deliver 3,985 homes for ownership and has so far seen 2,090 homes produced. The last plan aimed to produce 8,498 rental units, and the city says 11,882 have been produced since then. San Antonio has moved more slowly on homeownership goals but is apparently still more than halfway toward meeting its targets. But just three years into that plan, officials said the city has surpassed its targets on production of new rental units. The previous framework’s goal was 18,681 homes over 10 years. The city could spend $3.37 billion over the next decade to produce and preserve 28,000 units, most of which would be for residents who make at or below 50 percent of the area median income, or around $22,000 to $37,000, depending on family size. “Today I believe we have a plan that has been very thoughtful of…taking into considerations the personality of the San Antonio community and doing all of this in the midst of a housing crisis,” she said. “We have this great opportunity to take a step on a complex issue that addresses generations of inequities, of redlining, of a system we know we’ve lived in,” said District 3 Councilwoman Phyllis Viagran.
